Search El Dorado County Recent Arrests

Start with custody status. Someone booked in the last few hours may not show up yet. El Dorado County recent arrests reach the roster only after booking wraps up. People who get released often vanish from that live list just as fast. City incident maps and the county blotter add useful context around an arrest. Neither one tells you who is still in jail. El Dorado County mugshots and full arrest records usually take a formal records request. Skip the guesswork. The right search depends on one thing. It depends on whether the person is in custody, out, or moved somewhere else.

El Dorado County Recent Arrests

Every search for who was arrested in El Dorado County should start with the El Dorado County Sheriff Citizen RIMS roster. It shows people currently held in county custody once booking is complete. It is not a full arrest archive. Someone arrested an hour ago may not be listed. Someone released or transferred may disappear from view. The Sheriff posts no fixed update hour, and intake delays vary by day. A blank result can mean an unfinished booking, a release, withheld information, or a name typed wrong.

El Dorado County has no public 24-hour arrest module. The live roster is the nearest same-day check. For other angles, use 24 Hour Arrests for same-day fallbacks and the Arrest Log for the multi-day blotter method. The separate media bulletin offers incident context across dates. It is not a named booking list. Both approaches rely on official Sheriff information.

Official window What it covers Fields and limits
Current custody Completed, publicly eligible jail bookings Name, booking data, agency, location, bail, status, charges; no photos
Multi-day bulletin Selected daily calls and incidents Time, event, incident number, place, disposition; no assured names
City incident context Placerville and South Lake Tahoe calls or maps Local incidents, not county custody

When New Bookings Appear

Booking has to finish before an entry can appear on Citizen RIMS. That makes the roster useful but slow. System timestamps are technical metadata, not a posting promise. An arrest will not land at any set minute. If someone was just transported, wait and search again. When timing matters most, call the jail or the Sheriff Records Unit. Do not assume no arrest happened.

The EDSO media bulletin ties together a date, a town, an incident number, and a disposition. A row marked ARREST may still leave out the name. Bail and booking number can be missing too. So can current status. The bulletin covers only selected Sheriff calls, and some investigative events stay out. Its date selector reaches back to late 2024, with gaps. When a case matters, save the incident number and request the report.

The official Citizen RIMS bulletin page shows the dated feed.

El Dorado County Sheriff Citizen RIMS media bulletins interface

The date-based bulletin offers incident context, while the jail roster remains the county-custody check.

Is there an EDSO arrest app? The Sheriff lists no separate jail lookup app. Citizen RIMS is a responsive website that works on phones. EDSO-OES handles emergency alerts only. Sheriff social channels highlight selected events, but none delivers a full booking feed. For named custody-change notices, use the VINELink Check.

Search El Dorado Jail Records

El Dorado County runs two jails. Placerville Jail sits at 300 Forni Road, Placerville, CA 95667, and South Lake Tahoe Jail at 1051 Al Tahoe Boulevard, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150. Both feed the same EDSO custody system. That split makes the arresting-agency field matter. An arrest made by South Lake Tahoe Police or Placerville Police can still show up under county custody.

Search a narrow date range. Use the most solid part of the name. Open each result, and keep scrolling because records sometimes load in stages. The date boxes filter current roster data only. They will not turn the roster into a released-person archive.

Search field Use Limit
Start and end date Narrow booking dates Current-custody data only
First name Full or partial search Spelling differences can hide a match
Last name Primary name filter Confirm identity from several fields
Result detail Review booking, agency, bail, status, charges Public details may be limited
  1. Open the official incarcerated-people portal and read its limitations notice.
  2. Enter a short date range plus a first or last name. Broaden only if needed.
  3. Open a likely row and compare its booking number, date, agency, arrest location, bail, and status.
  4. If nothing appears, retry after intake or call the applicable jail or Records Unit.

The public search withholds plenty. Juvenile records, photos, birth date, age, sex, race, physical traits, and home address all stay off limits. The county warns its records can be incomplete, delayed, omitted, or pending court filing. Don't guess at gaps. Use the official incarcerated-people search itself.

The interface is a text-based live custody tool, so no displayed photograph should be expected.

Booked, Released, or Transferred

Custody status shapes the search. Booking is jail intake. It records identity, charges, and custody data. A person just booked may not appear until that work finishes. Someone held now should show on Citizen RIMS. After a release or transfer, the name drops off, though the booking record and later court file live on.

Status Best first source What a blank may mean
Just booked EDSO roster, then jail Intake is incomplete
Currently held EDSO roster and VINE Check spelling, date, restrictions, or agency
Released or transferred EDSO Records and court Roster removal does not erase the event
State custody CDCR CIRIS County numbers do not drive that search
Federal or immigration custody BOP or ICE County and federal systems are separate

California VINE sends release and transfer alerts. It does not provide booking photos. Ready alerts cover community emergencies, and Sheriff social channels share selected news. Keeping these channels separate stops an incident post from passing as live jail status.

El Dorado Publication Channels

Go to official sources first. EDSO owns the custody data, incident records, and court connections. News sites and commercial databases can offer a lead. Their copies may linger after a release, miss a correction, or show an outdated image.

Channel Official? Photo? Best use
EDSO roster Yes No, disabled Current county custody
EDSO bulletins Yes No gallery Selected incidents
City Citizen RIMS Yes No county booking function City incident context
Superior Court Yes Not a mugshot source Filed charges and outcome
News or aggregators No Sometimes Secondary leads only

INEDC, the Mountain Democrat, and Tahoe Daily Tribune publish selected arrest and court stories. Each runs on its own schedule. Coverage is editorial, never complete. Local Crime News, RecentlyBooked, Mugshots.com, Arrests.org, and Muglist sit on the unofficial commercial side. Confirm any name, image, or charge with EDSO and the court. No faces appear here.

El Dorado Arrests by City

El Dorado County contains just two incorporated cities. South Lake Tahoe is the larger of the pair. Placerville serves as the county seat. Each city runs its own police department with incident and records channels, though arrests that lead to county custody still pass into the EDSO jail system.

Placerville dropped its weekly crime logs and switched to Citizen RIMS on March 31, 2025. South Lake Tahoe built its own incident map instead. Neither interface names everyone booked into the El Dorado County jail. Read the local incident data for context. For actual custody, confirm through EDSO.

El Dorado Booking Record Fields

Each El Dorado County booking entry names two different offices. One is the agency that made the arrest. The other is the Sheriff's office holding the person in jail. Knowing that split saves time when you need an arrest report, since the record itself only shows the initial charges and any release terms.

Field Meaning
Booking number and date County intake identifier and time
Name and status Displayed identity and roster status
Original agency EDSO, city police, or another agency
Arrest date and location Recorded time and place
Total bail Release-related amount, not proof
Charge table Code, description, level, agency, location, date, and bail where shown
Arraignment
The early court stage where charges and rights are addressed.
Bail
A release-related term, not a judgment.
Disposition
The court result, such as dismissal, plea, acquittal, or conviction.
Warrant
A court authorization for an arrest or directed action.

The charge table says what was listed at arrest. Always check the filed complaint and disposition before drawing a conclusion.

El Dorado Arrest Photos

EDSO's roster shows no booking photos because the office disabled inmate images. Nothing appears online there. That does not mean no photo exists in an agency file. A lawful request can ask whether a specific photo is disclosable, though release may be limited by investigative, safety, confidentiality, juvenile, victim, medical, sealing, or other rules.

CDCR identification photos belong to the state prison system. Its media policy offers a request route for current and former state inmates, and CIRIS does not promise a picture with every result. The federal BOP locator posts no public photos at all. Neither system supplies a new El Dorado County mugshot.

Penal Code § 13665 restricts certain booking-photo posts on law-enforcement social media for covered nonviolent arrests, and photos generally must come down within fourteen days unless an exception applies. The Attorney General has noted that an agency's own website falls outside that social-media definition. Nothing in the law forces EDSO to publish photos.

California's anti-pay-to-remove law is set out in the state code.

California Civil Code section 1798.91.1 booking photograph law

The statute targets paid removal arrangements. It does not make every lawful official record vanish on request.

Request El Dorado Arrest Records

The EDSO Records Unit handles questions about released persons, older bookings, reports, and photos. Placerville Records sits at 200 Industrial Drive, Placerville, CA 95667, reachable at (530) 621-5703 on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The South Lake Tahoe office is at 1360 Johnson Boulevard, phone (530) 573-3000, open weekdays 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Both close on county holidays. Most services require an appointment.

  1. Use the Sheriff public-records form and identify the person, date, agency, location, and booking number if known.
  2. Name each item sought: booking record, release data, photo, charges, or incident report.
  3. Submit in person, by fax, or by mail. The published response framework is ten working days.
  4. Ask which fee and disclosure rule applies before ordering copies.
EDSO product Amount or timing
Report copy $0.25 per page
Subject-only local CORI $25; up to ten days; ten years of county booking/release history
Local clearance letter $30; up to ten days

Local CORI covers a person's own criminal-offender record information within the county. It is not a public name archive anyone can search. Expect to show identification and pay a fee. The record also skips final disposition. Court fees stay separate.

California Arrest Records Law

Government Code § 7923.610 sets the baseline for public arrest information in California. Subject to exceptions, it covers the arrested person's name and description. It also covers the time of arrest and booking, location and circumstances, bail, holding or release details, and charges. Government Code § 7923.600 shields investigatory records from disclosure. One public arrest fact does not unlock every witness statement, report, or photo. It also withholds medical details, juvenile records, and active investigative leads.

Civil Code § 1798.91.1 prohibits a booking-photo publisher from seeking or accepting money from the subject. That rule covers removing, correcting, or stopping publication of an image. Avoid paid removal services. None of them can alter an official file. A government administrative correction fee is a separate matter.

Relief depends on the case. Penal Code § 851.87 can seal some arrests that never led to conviction. Section 1203.4 may allow dismissal relief after probation, though it is not total deletion. Sections 851.8, 851.85, and 851.86 offer other paths. People say "expungement" loosely. Start with the court or agency and seek qualified legal help.

The free correction route works in steps. Obtain the court or agency document first. Then ask the original publisher to act under its free policy. Request a search-engine refresh once the source changes. RecentlyBooked and Mugshots.com publish free documentation-based policies. Those policies cover certain sealed, dismissed, mistaken, juvenile, duplicate, or outdated entries. No free local policy exists for Arrests.org or Muglist. BustedNewspaper and Mugshots.zone carry no El Dorado section. Never pay a publisher to remove a booking image.

The California Department of Justice record-relief source explains the state process.

California Department of Justice arrest record relief information

Eligibility comes first. California sets the rules. A court or agency handles the petition, not a private firm. Relief is official or nothing.

How Long Booking Records Remain

EDSO publishes no retention schedule for roster rows or booking photos. Entries can vanish after release or transfer. The subject-only local CORI keeps a ten-year history. That span does not transfer to the public roster or photo retention. Ask Records which schedule governs the exact item you need.

A Superior Court file can outlive its jail row. The online index covers eligible cases and calendars. Requests without a case number can use the index for cases after 2000. Older or purged material may call for an M-form, offsite retrieval, or clerk research. California State Archives holds broad state and selected local collections. Still, it is not a current El Dorado booking repository.

Can the court provide the arrest report? No. The court's copy form excludes police, arrest, incident reports, and warrants. Go to the agency for those items. For filed charges, orders, and disposition, go to the court.

El Dorado Arrest Warrants

Want to know about an El Dorado County warrant? The Sheriff's Office will not confirm one over the phone. Citizen RIMS keeps its public warrants tool turned off too. So do the self-check in person. Bring photo ID to a Sheriff office, the jail, or the Records Unit. The court can also help. A court index may add context. It cannot promise a warrant is still active. The court's copy form will not produce warrant lists.

The Sheriff's Office posts no most-wanted page of its own. One regional option is the Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers list, which has carried EDSO-labeled entries. Those notices can include a wanted date, a description, and a photo. They may also list a case number, the agency, and a tip line. Still, that list is not the EDSO arrest roster. It carries no fixed count of wanted people in the county.

Safety comes first, so never approach someone on a wanted notice. Call 911 if there is immediate danger. Send tips through law enforcement or Crime Stoppers. Worried about your own warrant? Contact the court or an attorney. Follow the official self-check process rather than trying to dodge service.

After an El Dorado Arrest

After an El Dorado County arrest and booking, the court record takes over. The Superior Court case index and calendars let you search by name, case number, filing date, or case category. Registration is required, and brand-new filings may lag behind. Criminal cases from the South Lake Tahoe area usually stay in that session. Other criminal matters head to Placerville.

The disposition is how the case ends. Look at the complaint, the arraignment, any plea or dismissal, diversion, acquittal, the sentence, or the full register of actions. Prosecutors can drop or change the counts from booking. Local rules set a deadline for filing in-custody complaints on arraignment day, though the court's website may not update that fast. The official case index is the place to start.

El Dorado Superior Court case index and calendars

The court history supplies later facts that a live jail row cannot.

Custody Beyond El Dorado Jails

A name missing from El Dorado County jail lists might be in state custody. CDCR's CIRIS locator can show a name, CDCR number, age, location, commitment counties, admission date, and parole-hearing details. A CDCR number is not a county booking number. State custody also does not mean a fresh El Dorado arrest.

For federal prison, use the BOP locator. It lists no photos. Federal pretrial custody may run through the U.S. Marshals and may not show up there at all. The ICE locator is a separate system for immigration detention. El Dorado County lists no official ICE contract or local feed.

Match each search to the right system. Use EDSO for the county jail, VINE for alerts, CDCR for state prison, BOP for federal custody, ICE for immigration detention, and the court for case outcomes.
